Adding extra imagery

Having reviewed the picture at this stage, the bottom of the picture is not as strong as the top and will require some additional material.

Step 22 File> Open> DVD> Step-by-step files> '07 Hosta Leaves' (Figure 7.34). Step 23 Select> All, then Edit> Copy and returning to the montage document paste it into the picture via Edit> Paste. This is the standard way of moving one photograph into another. Move this to above Layer 1 and change the layer composite method to Lighten. The incoming picture will have been placed in the centre of the screen so use the Layer Adjuster tool to move the picture down to the bottom.

Step 24 Make a layer mask and paint into the mask with the same Felt Tip brush as in the previous step. Use 100% opacity to paint out the leaves in the top left corner and to hide the hard edge, then reduce the opacity to 60% and paint to partially hide the other leaves. Check Figure 7.35 for the picture at this stage, you will see that the leaves are only just visible but help support the lower areas.
