Monochrome clone

Clones using monochrome photographs can work very well. They need no special techniques apart from removing the color if your original picture is in color. This picture was originally photographed on Kodak Infra-Red film and that has given it a very grainy and contrasty appearance.

Step 1 File> Open> DVD> Step-by-step files> '09 Old Coach House'.

If your own picture needs to be changed to monochrome, make a new empty layer above the canvas and fill it with black. Change the layer composite method to Colorize and click on Drop All in the palette menu.

Step 2 File> Quick Clone. Step 3 Select the Sketching Pencil 5 from the Pencils category, brush size 175.0 with opacity at 4%. In the General palette change the Method to Cloning and Subcategory to Grainy Hard Cover Cloning. Step 4 Select the Italian Watercolor paper. Step 5 Sketch lightly over the picture leaving the edges white as in Figure 9.16.

Step 6 Reduce the brush size to around 66.6, \Figure9.l6 First sketch. increase the opacity to 10% and paint over the picture bringing out more detail were necessary.
