Step 9 Select Thick Handmade Paper from the Papers palette, this is a fairly strong texture which will work well with the pastel brush.
Step 1O From the Brush Selector choose Pastels> Round X-Soft Pastel 30, brush size 60.0. This pastel brush has a captured dab which means that it has been created from a shape or design. Step 11 In the General palette make the following settings: Dab type Captured, Method Cloning, Subcategory Grainy Hard Cover Cloning, Opacity 60%, Grain 10%. If the General palette is not on screen go to Window> Brush Controls> Show General. The other palettes that open at the same time can be closed as they will not be used here. This palette is also contained in the Brush Creator if you are using some earlier versions of Painter. Step 12 Click back in the document and make a light clone of the head and shoulders. Paint over the face again to make it a little more distinct. Your picture should look something like the one in Figure 7.17.
